Nasir Abas, is an Indonesia’s public figure and a partner of Detachment 88 (Anti-Terror) Indonesian National Police since 2003 to discover the link of terror groups and as a resource person for Government Anti-Terror Body (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Terorisme – BNPT) to give a peace speech counter violent extremist to the public, and involved in government program either Deradicalization or Counter Radical. Others government institution as well as Social Ministry, Directorate General Correction, Religious Ministry and Military did involve him in such formal meetings to counter terrorisme. He wrote books and articles in newspaper, and has been interviewed by many journalist either from Indonesia or from different countries. Nasir Abas also active giving lectures in universities, especially in Training Centre named Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC).

As a former member of radical group, Nasir Abas used to study at Military Academy of Afghanistan Mujahideen (1987 – 1990), graduated on 1990. Previously, he has joined Indonesia Islamic State (Negara Islam Indonesia - NII) and Al-Jamaah Al-Islamiyah (JI) group, has ever been an Instructor of Weaponry in Military Academy of Afghanistan Mujahideen (1990-1993), a chairman of Hudaibiyah Training Camp in Mindanao, The Philippines (1994-1997), and since 2001 a chairman of Mantiqi III JI in Southeast Asia until he left JI in 2003.
